Luray Caverns aren’t just big, they’re truly breathtaking. One of the coolest things in them is the Great Stalacpipe Organ, which is the largest musical instrument in the world. It uses the natural rock formations to create music, and it stretches across over 3 acres. The ceilings go up to 10 stories high, and there is even a formation column measuring 47 feet! Two water features give a true “wow” factor: Dream Lake, which is an optical illusion, and the famous Wishing Well, so keep an eye out for them!

What to Expect on the Self-Guided Tour through Luray Caverns with Kids
The path through the caverns is about 1.25 miles long and doesn’t have any stairs, but there are some steep sections. While it’s not officially called an accessible trail, we were able to bring a small stroller and had no trouble navigating the path. Just take it slow, and wear good shoes with grip.
The self-guided tour took us about an hour, which was perfect with a toddler. She was engaged almost the entire time, and the cool temperature of 54 degrees Fahrenheit (but felt more in the 60s) kept us all comfortable.
